What is Love?

I’ve been thinking a lot about love lately.  For months, actually.  Do I have it?  Am I getting it and giving it?  Is it really the most important thing in the world?  And on Valentine’s Day, I thought it a fitting topic since love is in the air and on our minds, and though I know I’ve learned a lot about love recently, I know I’m just scratching the surface.  What exactly IS it?

There is a macro and a micro to the “love” question:  What is it in a general sense, and then how does that apply to the

An Amazing Month: The Nutshell Version

Wow... What a month it's been!  I've meant to blog several times, but then kept delaying it, and now I feel that a lot of what I experienced won't be adequately conveyed.  I waited too long!  Hence, here I will do the "in a nutshell" recap of May 2013.

Already told you about the first show, which was great!  Marijke, Eric and I also did a "songwriters in the round" gig at Gypsy Den in Santa Ana on Saturday the 25th and that was SO much fun.  Oh my gosh, I can't even tell you what a thrill it is to share…

Shows shows shows! And then some more shows!

So April had a great show at the quirky UnUrban cafe in LA!  Over the last couple of years, I have acquired a cadre of AMAZING singer/songwriter friends from the workshop I've participated in at the Songwriters School of Los Angeles.  (Big shout out to founder, songwriter, teacher, and all around incredible individual Rob Seals for creating such a place for all of us to gather and grow.  Visit www.thesongwritingschool.com for class info!)  A few of us - namely Eric Shouse, Marijke, and Mat Koehler -…

It's 5:30pm, and I'm still in my pajamas...

Yes, it's true.  I haven't event brushed my hair.  And I woke up at 6:30am.

Why, you are hopefully asking, or else my teaser was totally ineffectve?  Take my hand and walk with me, and let me tell you what sights I've seen...

So this has been one of the craziest and least certain and most enjoyable and most terrible periods of my life.  For those of you who don't know, I was laid off in late January from my special events manager position at a restaurant here in Orange County.  It was devastating, as well…

Harvest Sunday Night

Hello, friends!  Steve Ochoa, Paul Antony and I had a great two song acoustic set at Harvest Christian Fellowship last night.  I don't think I've ever played a venue with such an amazing sound system, not to mention the lights and staging.  There was even fog, y'all.  Anyway, if you'd like to watch, you can follow the link below.  Make sure you choose the "Full Service" option, not the default "Message Only", that way you'll get the music portion at the beginning of the service.  The Harvest team does two…

Back in the studio... A year later

Oh, my dear friends... What a crazy year it's been.  Kickstarter funding was a success, we went back into the studio (Paul Antony, Steve Ochoa, and some other familiar faces), and things were going along swimmingly.  Then something called life happened, quite literally.  My producer Paul Antony and his gorgeous wife Natalie welcomed little baby girl Heaven into the world in the fall.  It was a brutal pregnancy, and a quite terrifying one, however God worked one miracle after the next, and now both baby…

Back in the studio!

Alright, friends, just wanted to give you a brief update and let you know that we are officially back in the studio now that "Beloved" has been funded through Kickstarter because of your gracious and incredibly generous help.  We have already begun tracking 3 songs ("Disappointment", "Never Too Late", and "Let You Lead") and Steve Ochoa is going to lay down some drums for us this coming Wednesday.  I am also still writing and have another 5 songs begun that I will be finishing in the next few weeks.  Looks…
