It's 5:30pm, and I'm still in my pajamas...

Yes, it's true.  I haven't event brushed my hair.  And I woke up at 6:30am.

Why, you are hopefully asking, or else my teaser was totally ineffectve?  Take my hand and walk with me, and let me tell you what sights I've seen...

So this has been one of the craziest and least certain and most enjoyable and most terrible periods of my life.  For those of you who don't know, I was laid off in late January from my special events manager position at a restaurant here in Orange County.  It was devastating, as well as liberating.  The job was swallowing me whole, but then - like an abusive relationship - when I left it, I wasn't exactly sure which end was up, nor what to do with myself.

And then I quickly figured it out:  Do what I was born to do.  Sing!  Do what I NEVER have time to do because of my job!

So Paul Antony and I finished recording for the "Beloved Vol. 1 & 2" project, I sang on a few demos for other artists, I began a new project with Jezza, I've been guest leading music at other churches around SoCal, I've been writing, I've been booking shows...and somewhere in there I spent (a little) time updating my resume.  I hope and pray to find full-time work as a worship leader, and in the interim, am doing as much as I can to keep busy doing more of what I love.

Fast forward to today:  I woke up early with a long list of things to do, one of which was to do a little bit of marketing stuff.  Well, I am now on hour 7.5 after having officially slipped down into the Photoshop wormhole.  I spent many moons slowly and painfully research every move I made on Google (should I interlace when saving a png file???) and learning that, yes, I SHOULD interlace.  Then I realized how much good I could do to my website if I just tweaked a few more things, further into the wormhole, and now I've spent the whole day here.  I seriously have a butt cramp from having sat here so long.  And I'm still in my pajamas.  And I don't know exactly how that happened, since the "to do" list didn't make it past item #1, but now I have an updated website, I have DIY online marketing for my upcoming shows, I have emailed and texted everyone I can think to email and text, and I am satisfied. It is a wonderful feeling to work to the point of oblivion regarding everything else in the world.  We were created for this.  To "lose ourselves" in our work, to find that flow where it doesn't feel like work at all.  I think the luckiest people in the world are the ones who actually get paid to do that!  Most of us don't, of course, and that's okay.  We just need to make sure we're "losing ourselves" as often as possible whether we get paid for it or not.  (For more about this, watch the documentary, "Happy."  Good stuff.)

So, now I'm emerging from the wormhole, and excited to share with all of you some of the magic that's happened in the last few months.  This video is on my "Video" page, as well, but just in case you don't wander over there, I'd love for you to hear one of the new songs I've been working on with Jezza:  "Doing Everything Right".  This is from our final day in the studio, 4-22-13.  I hope you enjoy it.  And I hope you "get lost" this weekend!
